However, on the plus side, after soldiering through to the end of the road, the software did restore my data properly where it was not yet overwritten by other data. Also, I'm probably due for a new mouse as I've most likely depleted the lifetime clicks over the last couple of days recovering my data with this software, hahaha. To elaborate, the software locked up constantly, it's not able to sort the directories alphabetically on the (left) tree view making the process of finding what I needed fairly difficult, not able to use cursor keys to move between directories, just some real basics around UX design that was not considered. I would have rather liked it to be ugly, be properly multi-threaded on its user interface, not lock and/or crash and also have more options to sort/navigate/save intermediate states of recoveries etc. The details… The prettified user interface got in the way of its function and took priority over an effective tool. The software works, but at the cost of your time and patience. Unfortunately, from a pragmatic point of view this software needs a lot of attention, especially for power users or beyond the point of only skimming briefly through scans. The user interface of this software is pretty horrid to use! Don't get me wrong, at first glance it looks gorgeous, especially the preview function which you will most likely turn off fairly quickly due to the performance impact to reduce the locks and crashes. If it was not for this last part I would’ve probably demanded a refund, hehehe. My experience with this software has been average at best, and average only because it managed to restore some of the data that was still in good shape. Ok'ish but the developers really need to work on UX aspects and stabilty of the software 3/4/‘22- They did at least get me my money back. That perhaps their software was not up to the task, or that the drives are fried seems much more likely. But to even intimate that a very good, nearly brand new computer, with minimal software in place at this point, could be blamed - even distantly, was infuriating. I certainly get that perhaps the drives are” done”. They even suggested that my 2 week old computer was obviously to blame ( an ASUS).

And the person that “ assisted me”, was useless. That said, I did not have any luck with recovery. I am not sure if the hard frites are truly fried, of if there is a chance of eventual recovery from other software. The “ incredible” reviews made me think that the chances of actually getting very good recovery of my data made me think that recovery was pretty much a “given”. I contacted the company to determine why the software would not “fix” the two hard drives ( external) that I had.
